The group employs over 600 people across the UK, Ireland and Internationally. As part of the LSCG, LAI is a fast-growing progressive group of companies covering the aviation, infrastructure, civil engineering and MEICA sectors. The Group is seeking to appoint a Contract review Lawyer. This is an excellent opportunity to learn and grow in a non-traditional legal environment.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and reporting on Construction Contracts and subcontracts and key ancillary documentation such as MoU’s, JV Agreements and NDA’s etc.
  • Identify and summarise key contract terms and obligations, such as scope of work, payment terms, timelines, insurance requirements, bonding, indemnities, retentions, design obligations and dispute resolution clauses.
  • Maintain contract files on a Document Management System (Asite).
  • Assist with drafting, proof reading and editing legal correspondence and documents, supporting our construction sites accordingly.
  • Coordinate with internal teams within LSIG (project management, finance etc) to ensure contract terms are understood, adhered to and relayed to the required personnel.
  • Assisting with the resolution of any construction disputes.

Essential criteria:

  • Law degree (or similar qualification)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a legal role (private practice or in-house role) preferable with a focus on construction and/or contract law.
  • Ability to utilise IT.
  • Well organised, self-motivated and ability to multitask.
  • Capable of dealing with a fast-paced demanding commercial environment.
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

It would be useful but not necessary for you to have:

  • Experience in a commercial environment e.g., some form of business environment
  • An understanding / knowledge of the Construction / Civil Engineering Industry
  • An understanding / knowledge of the Standard Forms of Contract within the Construction Industry such as NEC, FIDIC and bespoke agreements
  • Working knowledge of AI software and how it can benefit your role
