Lagan Services Limited provides professional and business support to the range of businesses within the group, and as our growth plans continue, we have an exciting opportunity for a HR Placement Student to join the team.
Role overview
As part of a small, supportive HR team, you will be encouraged to get involved from day one, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of HR activities. You will support with the effective delivery of HR services across a diverse group of businesses, giving you valuable insight into how employment practices operate within a real business environment.

What you'll do
Some of the main tasks you will get involved with include:
Recruitment & Selection
- Create job descriptions, advertise vacancies & manage recruitment campaigns
- Support hiring managers, by completing shortlisting and arranging/attending interviews
- Record all recruitment data accurately, and provide updates to applicants & hiring managers
- Ensure a fair process is followed, in compliance with employment law and company policy
- Collate vacancy information as required for annual Equal Opportunities Monitoring Return
Pre-Employment & Onboarding
- Draft and Issue offers of employment, in line with appropriate governance
- Carryout all pre-employment checks required by regional laws and company policy
- Add employee details to the HR System, along with any documentation
- Issue Day One emails, and new starter training
- Arrange and participate in Company Inductions
Probationary Period Management
- Track training completion
- Check-ins with Employees and Line Managers
- Support with reviews and administration
HR Systems & Administration
- Accurate and timely management of HR information to appropriate systems
- Compliance with GDPR, Confidentiality and Data Processing/Retention Policies
- Assist with roll-out of new HR System
- Support with Equal Opportunities Monitoring Return and Diversity Data reporting
HR Generalist Tasks
- Support, Advise & Note Take for Employee Relations matters, such as Disciplinaries
- Support with sickness absence cases, including Return to works, fit notes,
- Producing accurate reports, weekly, monthly and reactively
- Assist with organising learning and development events
- Support with Movers and Leavers in the business
What you'll bring
Your main skills and experience will include;
Essential Criteria
- Currently studying a degree in HR Management or related subject, and commencing a University Year Placement in academic year 2026-27
- A minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) including English and Maths at Grade C or above
- Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Be a self-starter with a proactive working approach and a positive, ‘can do’, attitude
- Be able to work unsupervised and on own initiative
- Possess excellent planning and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and be trustworthy with sensitive information

- Previous administration experience
- Previous HR administration experience
