George Best Belfast City Airport Refurbishment

This Project was part of a £15 million upgrade project to improve the passenger experience at George Best Belfast City Airport.

The major infrastructure investment was to reconfigure part of the existing Terminal building Landside and air-side and included an upgrade of the airport’s departure lounge, incorporating its retail, food and beverage offering and creating a new World of Duty free shopping area. The overall project was to maximise the use of the empty space to the front of the building.

The works consisted of a strip out of existing walls, finishes and M&E installations and forming new spaces building stud partitions, new floor and wall finishes and new mechanical and electrical installations.

Building works included within our scope consisted of the demolition of existing offices and the forming of new offices including the necessary building fabric works as well as the alterations to the existing walkway and curved partition wall to create a new walk way for passengers. We were also required to remove an existing section of the perimeter fence line and relocate it to form a new secure compound.

Electrical works included within our scope consisted of stripping out and altering the existing electrical installation. We completed the installation of various new electrical systems including lighting, small power, data, mechanical wiring, switch gear alterations, sub-mains installation and metering installation. Specialist works included Emergency Lighting, PAVA, CCTV, Access Control and Fire Alarm installation were completed whilst on site.

Mechanical works included within our scope consisted of modifications to the existing sprinkler system, heating installations, cooling installation, soils and waste ventilation's and works to the site wide Building Management System.
