FK Lowry delivers Belfast Hotel Scheme

Client
Ganson
Contract
Apart Hotel. Queen Street
Value
£180,000
Duration
4 weeks

FK Lowry has recently delivered a continuous flight auger (CFA) bearing pile scheme for local contractor Ganson. The 4-week Bearing Pile Scheme in Queen Street in Belfast City Centre is for the construction of a new 184-bedroom aparthotel.

FK Lowry designed and installed 122no 450mm & 600mm diameter CFA piles to depths of up to 28m deep. Ground conditions were typical Belfast strata with made ground/fill overlying Belfast “sleech”. This was further underlain by soft then firm-to-stiff silty clays to depth. The project was completed to programme and budget.

We mobilised our Soilmec SR-75 CFA Piling Rig to the City Centre Belfast Scheme as this particular rig offers us the capability of boring to significant depths. We’re delighted also to continue our relationship with Ganson and pleased to see some traction in terms of the Northern Ireland Construction Sector
