Charles Brand have successfully undertaken a major milestone on their Lagan Gateway Project in Belfast. The first section of the new Lagan Gateway Cycle Bridge was successfully lifted into position. The new bridge that spans the River Lagan at Stranmillis is 39 metres long, weighs 35t and was lowered carefully into position by means of a 250t specialist handling crane.
The Lagan Gateway project includes structural improvements and development works at Stranmillis including:
- Development of a Navigation Lock
- Construction of the iconic Foot and Cycle Bridge
- Refurbishment of the existing Weir.
The total investment in the project is approximately £4.8 million, with almost 50 percent of this coming from the Belfast Investment Fund.
