H&J Martin are celebrating 8 years of supporting local children’s cancer charity, Cancer Fund for Children.
H&J Martin pledged their support to Cancer Fund for Children in 2011 and since then have volunteered over 150 days at Daisy Lodge, the charity’s therapeutic short break facility for children living with cancer and their families.
Through our volunteering H&J Martin’s staff have helped fix a range of maintenance issues, provided fire training free of charge and also helped to raise vital funds through a staff tuck box run by their office manager.
Continued support from H&J Martin help Cancer Fund for Children provide practical and emotional support, as well as free therapeutic short breaks to children diagnosed with cancer, children living with a parent diagnosed with cancer, and their families.
Explaining their reasons for supporting Cancer Fund for Children, H&J Martin Director, Kieron Millar, said: “H&J Martin are delighted to support Cancer Fund for Children, making a real impact for those who use this fantastic facility. Our staff have built friendships over the years with staff at Daisy Lodge and we are delighted to leave a lasting impact for many years to come.”
Corinna Decodts Cancer Fund for Children’s Facilities Management Officer added:
“We are so grateful to H&J Martin. As a local charity, we receive less than 0.5% of our funding from the government, so rely on help from local businesses to provide vital services to children and families impacted by cancer. It’s great to see how passionate the team at H&J Martin are about our services, and how enthusiastic and committed they are to doing whatever they can to help.”
Cancer Fund for Children understands the devastating impact a cancer diagnosis and treatment can have on the whole family and that beyond the essential clinical care there is a family life that needs to be rebuilt at home and in the community. The charity’s team of Cancer Support Specialists help children and families cope with the impact cancer has on their lives, supporting them through life during and after treatment and, in some cases, bereavement.
