The Great Western Motorway Cycle

11 Sep 2017

Site Staff from the new M17/18 Gort to Tuam Motorway Project took part in the Great Western Motorway Cycle on Sunday 10th September 2017.

This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to cycle on the new motorway before it opens to traffic. The cycle commenced at the Tuam end of the motorway adjacent to the Kilmore Roundabout and consisted of two distances that the cyclists could take part in. Route 1 was a 100km loop from Tuam to Gort to Tuam and Route 2 was a 50km loop from Tuam to Rathmorrissy Interchange on the M6 to Tuam. The registration fees for the cycle will raise much needed funds for the local Lions Clubs in Tuam and Gort.

The site team all took part in the 1–km route with the best time achieved in 3.5 hours.
